1. Who we are and what these terms cover
Editara ("Editara", "we", "us") operates the platform available at editara.com — a publishing intelligence service for academic journals, including journal evaluation, editorial workflow management, and public journal hosting (together, the "Service"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern every use of the Service. By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms.
2. Accounts
You must provide accurate information when registering and keep your credentials confidential. Accounts are approved by a platform administrator before full access is granted. You are responsible for all activity under your account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, compromise the security of the Service, or are used to submit fraudulent or infringing content.
3. The Service
Editara provides tools for evaluating academic journals against indexing-oriented criteria, managing editorial workflows (submission, peer review, editorial decisions, production and publication), and hosting public journal pages. Evaluation results are advisory: they represent Editara's independent assessment and do not guarantee acceptance by, and are not affiliated with, Clarivate, Elsevier (Scopus), the National Library of Medicine (PubMed), or any other indexing body.
4. Your content
Authors, editors and publishers retain all rights in the manuscripts, journal metadata and other materials they upload ("Content"). By uploading Content you grant Editara a non-exclusive licence to host, process, display and — where you choose to publish — make it publicly available through the Service. You confirm that you hold the rights needed to upload the Content and that it does not infringe third-party rights, contain unlawful material, or misrepresent authorship.
Published articles are made available under the licence selected by the journal (for example, a Creative Commons licence). That licence, not these Terms, governs reuse of published articles by readers.
5. AI-assisted processing
Parts of the Service use artificial intelligence to assist evaluation and editorial screening. AI output is always advisory: editorial decisions remain with the journal's editors, and evaluation scores are produced by Editara's deterministic scoring model. Uploaded manuscripts are processed by our AI infrastructure providers solely to provide the Service and are not used by us to train generative models.
6. Acceptable use
- No attempts to breach, probe or overload the Service's security or infrastructure.
- No uploading of malware, unlawful content, or content you have no right to share.
- No misrepresentation of identity, affiliation, authorship or peer-review status.
- No scraping or bulk extraction of the Service beyond published public interfaces.
- No use of the Service to fabricate or manipulate scholarly records.
7. Fees
Parts of the Service may be offered under paid plans agreed in writing (including order forms or partnership agreements). Where no paid plan is in place, the Service is provided as-is for evaluation purposes and we may change what is included in free access at any time.
8. Availability and changes
We work to keep the Service available and secure, but it is provided "as is" without warranties of uninterrupted availability. We may modify, add or retire features. If we discontinue the Service, we will provide reasonable notice and a way to export your Content.
9. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Editara is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, loss of profits, or loss of data arising from use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim, or, where no fees were paid, to EUR 100. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service and request account deletion at any time. On termination, published journal content remains publicly available where the journal has chosen publication, unless removal is required by law or by the applicable licence.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Romania. Disputes are subject to the competent courts of Bucharest, Romania, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
